Yerba Buena was established in 2007 and resampled in 2009 as part of a Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA). Point contact, photo plot, motile invertebrate, and Fucus size structure surveys were done as part of the NRDA.

Yerba Buena was revisited in 2016 to collect baseline data for comparison in the event of any more damage to natural resources.
