Long-Term Monitoring Surveys at Freshwater Bay were established in 2014, and are done by University of California, Santa Cruz and Feiro Marine Life Center. Long-Term monitoring surveys currently target the following species: Chthamalus/Balanus (Acorn Barnacles) and Mytilus (California Mussel). For more information see the Long-Term trends at this site.

Biodiversity Surveys were done in 2024. The Biodiversity Survey grid encompasses one section that is approximately 30 meters (along shore) x 25 meters (seaward). For more information see the Biodiversity Survey findings at this site.
